Investment income is a type of income earned by investing in stocks, bonds, or other assets. It can come in the form of dividends, interest, or capital gains. Dividend income is the fruit from the labor of investing your money in the stock market. Further, Dividend Income is a primary vehicle for creating wealth for many investors. Dividend income is paid out from companies to shareholders in the form of cash payments.

Realty Income announced its third quarter earnings results on November 3. The trust reported that it generated revenues of $840 million during the quarter, up 6.2% on a year-over-year basis. Of this total, $777.2 million was generated from rental income and $62.8 million was generated from interest income.

Brighthouse Financial (NASDAQ:BHF) stock jumped 10.7% after the company reported its fourth quarter earnings results on February 11. The company reported net Investment income of $4.7 million, up 50.2% year-over-year, and total assets under management of $124.7 million, or $59.38 per share.

Total Investment income for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2022 was $212.9M, vs. $213.4M consensus, rising from $202.7M in Q1 and from $175.4M in the year-ago period. The company reported net Investment income of $212.9M, up 21.4% year-over-year, and total assets under management of $4.7 billion.
