General Motors Investing Big in US Plants

General Motors announced investments of up to $918 million in four US plants to produce V-8 engines and electric vehicle components.

General Motors (NYSE:GM) has announced a large investment of up to $918 million in four US plants. The investment will be used to expand production of V-8 engines in light-duty full-size pickups and large SUVs, as well as to build electric vehicle components.

One of the investment is an $68 million investment at the Rochester manufacturing facility on Lexington Avenue. This investment will be used to build electric vehicle components and combustion engines. GM Rochester Operations will also receive $68 million from General Motors to fund the production of electric vehicle components.

The second major investment is a $579 million investment at Flint Engine Operations. This money will go towards the sixth-generation family of small block V-8 gas engines. These engines are used in highly profitable vehicles, and this investment will bring V-8 engine manufacturing back to Flint.

Additionally, General Motors is investing $216 million in Bay City Powertrain to produce the next generation of fuel-efficient engines. This investment will help to create jobs in the area and to make GM’s products more fuel-efficient.

The investment are part of General Motors’ plan to become a leader in electric vehicle production and to make its products more fuel-efficient. The company is also investing in technologies such as autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and alternative fuels.

The investment are expected to create up to 2,200 jobs in the US, including at least 400 in Michigan. This will help to create a long-term, sustainable economy in the US.
