In July, the US DOT announced a $62.6 million grant award to KDOT for the 18th Street Bridge Replacement Project in Kansas City. This is part of a larger effort by the federal government to invest in bridge infrastructure across the country. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has announced more than $5 billion in Large Bridge Project awards through the Federal Highway Administration's Bridge Investment Program.

The I-95 15 design-build project is the largest ever undertaken by Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and will remove 15 bridges from the state's infrastructure. This project is just one example of the many bridge improvement initiatives being funded by the federal government. The US Department of Transportation has announced over $26.5 million in grants via the Federal Highway Administration's Bridge Investment Program.

Sen. Murray has championed the I-5 Bridge Replacement project stretching back decades; helped establish and fund the Bridge Investment Program. This program has been crucial in addressing the nation's aging bridge infrastructure and ensuring the safety of motorists. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently issued $5 billion in grants from its Bridge Investment Program – a program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The federal Bridge Investment Program grant funding will be used to support 13 nationally significant bridges in 16 states, highlighting the importance of investing in critical infrastructure.
