This year's conference showcased a wide range of topics, from sustainability initiatives to technological advancements.

Craig Talsma, the executive director of the Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks), received the coveted Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) Outstanding Individual Service Award for his dedication and commitment to the community. Talsma's leadership and vision have been instrumental in shaping the future of parks and recreation in Illinois.

Due to strong relations with senators on both sides of the aisle, the IAPD was able to ensure that “discriminatory language against plastics, which have been a vital part of infrastructure development, was removed from the proposed legislation. This victory highlights the importance of advocacy and collaboration in protecting the interests of park districts and recreation facilities.

AURORA – In 2023, State Senator Linda Holmes collaborated with State Senator Julie Morrison to allow law enforcement agencies to use drones for search and rescue operations in state parks. This groundbreaking legislation will enhance the capabilities of park rangers and law enforcement officers in responding to emergencies and ensuring public safety.

The International Army Programs Directorate (IAPD) works with allies and partner nations to plan and execute events for military personnel. The IAPD plays a crucial role in promoting international cooperation and strengthening relationships between military organizations around the world.

The Performance Plastics Association is pleased to announce Deborah Ragsdale of Polymer Industries LLC's continued leadership with a second term as chairperson.
