Fidelity Investments, the giant financial services company, is committing $250 million to support as many as 50,000 underserved minority students with access to education and support. This new initiative, known as Invest In My Education (ME)SM, is part of the company’s larger commitment to helping close the financial gap between the haves and have-nots.
The program is designed to provide students from underserved and/or minority backgrounds with access to resources that will help them succeed in higher education. This includes access to college counseling services, college admissions and financial aid tools, and support for educational expenses.
The program is also designed to provide students with access to mentorship and career guidance, as well as build a network of mentors and peers to support them as they pursue their educational goals. In addition, the program will provide access to internships, job opportunities, and other resources to help students secure a job after they graduate.
The program is funded by a combination of donations from the company and its partners, as well as by grants from foundations and other organizations. All of these fees come out of the amount donated, making donor-advised funds less cost-efficient than donating directly to a charity. Invest fees are also taken out of donations, so donors should make sure to read the fund’s prospectus carefully before Invest.
Fidelity Investments is also working with a number of partners to ensure that the program is successful. These include the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), The Posse Foundation, and schools and universities across the country. The company is also collaborating with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) to provide its members with access to the program.
Fidelity Investments hopes that Invest In My Education (ME)SM will be a major step in closing the education gap between the advantaged and disadvantaged. The program will provide access to resources and support to help underserved students succeed and pursue their educational goals.
